My experience of being an immigrant has informed my artwork allowing me to explore my place in the world and reconstruct my identity as a Cuban expatriate, Mexican immigrant and Latina woman. I am constantly searching for a sense of place and belonging. I have learned people can migrate with you, but things must stay behind. This knowledge is reflected in my early work when I investigated the human experience and human forms. Today, I pursue specific conceptual ideas that live in my head for a sometime and later materialize as photographs. Art is where I take root, my home.
